--Reach Out With Red Rose sponsorship provides $250,000 to ONEXONE and a
chance for three Canadians to win a volunteer abroad experience--
TORONTO
,
Sept. 24
/CNW/ - For generations, tea has made a difference in people's lives by providing warmth and inspiration. In fact, Arthur W. Pinero, a famous British dramatist once said, "While there's tea, there's hope." Now, Red Rose(R) tea is bringing some of that hope to children in
Canada
and around the world through the Reach Out with Red Rose(TM) program - an active sponsorship that includes a
$250,000
contribution to ONEXONE and the chance for Canadians* to win a volunteer experience with a ONEXONE partner.
"The Reach Out with Red Rose program will help spread the word about the important work we and our charity partners are doing to support, preserve and improve the lives of children in
Canada
and around the world," said
Joey Adler
, ONEXONE founder and president of Diesel
Canada
. "ONEXONE focuses on five pillars - clean water, hunger, education, health care and play - and sponsors like Red Rose help ONEXONE continue to make projects like wells for clean water in
Ethiopia
and breakfast programs for Canadian kids a reality."
At home, ONEXONE has helped raise funds for Canadian organizations such as Child Find Ontario, Right to Play, War Child
Canada
and Free the Children. The ONEXONE First Nations Breakfast Program also provides nutritious breakfast for Canadian children during the school year.
Reach out and make a difference to win a once-in- a-lifetime experience
In celebration of the sponsorship, Red Rose is inviting tea lovers to share how they make a difference in the lives of others every day through the Reach Out with Red Rose contest.
Starting
September 13
, Canadians can submit a short 200-word essay and photo at www.ReachOutWithRedRose.ca that shows what they are doing to change the world - anything from raising thousands of dollars for a charity run to mentoring youth in their community.
From
September 20
until
October 18
, visitors to www.ReachOutWithRedRose.ca will vote for their favourite entry, and the top 10 will move on to the next round of voting, which will take place from
October 21
until
November 4
. The three entries with the highest votes will be reviewed by the Red Rose judging panel, and one lucky person will win a once-in-a lifetime volunteer vacation: a seven-day trip for two, to live and work in
Africa
on a ONEXONE partner project with Millennium Promise. There will be two additional chances to enter and win next year, with prizes awarded in February and
June 2010
.
Winners will be invited to blog about their experiences while footage from these incredible trips may be used to create a compelling documentary that will be screened at the ONEXONE Gala during the 2010
Toronto
International Film Festival.
