Redline Granted Full FCC Approval for 3.65 GHz WiMAX Products Across the
Entire 50 MHz Spectrum
-- Decision Allows Service Providers to Broaden Deployment of Redline-based Services --
TORONTO, Sept. 29 /CNW/ - Redline Communications Group Inc. ("Redline") (TSX: RDL), a leading global supplier of secure wireless broadband products, today announced it has received full Federal Communications Commission (FCC) approval to operate its 3.65 GHz RedMAX(TM) WiMAX base station products across the entire 50 MHz spectrum.
Throughout North America, the 3.65 GHz is reserved for telecom service providers as a 'lightly licensed' band, enabling them to deliver competitive broadband wireless data service without incurring the high costs of spectrum licenses. In 2007, Redline's 3.65 GHz WiMAX products were the first to be approved for operation in the lower 25 MHz spectrum. The FCC decision allowing Redline to operate in the upper 25 MHz spectrum is the result of an exacting evaluation process ensuring the company's compliance with the tighter restrictions for this additional spectrum. Redline customers already using RedMAX 3.65 products can simply download a free software upgrade that enables their radios to function across the complete 50MHz of spectrum.
"The FCC decision marks a significant move forward for Redline, and we are delighted to join a select group of companies who can operate across the full 50 MHz spectrum," said Rodney Cronin, Redline's Director of Product Management. "Our telecom service provider customers can now take advantage of double the spectrum capacity, allowing them to deliver high-performance, flexible and reliable Redline-based solutions on a much broader scale."
