TORONTO, Sept. 28, 2018 /CNW/ - redtag.ca, one of Canada's leading retail travel agencies, announced that it achieved its 2018 goal of raising $1 million for The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids).
The renowned hospital, affiliated with the University of Toronto, is the favored beneficiary of redtag.ca's corporate philanthropic initiatives.
"We take our role as a good corporate citizen very seriously," said redtag.ca's Chief Digital Officer, Roberto Gennaro. "Being a good corporate citizen means we contribute to the well-being of the community. We are proud to show our commitment in a way that will help sick kids get better."
The redtag.ca campaign this year specifically raised funds for the Labatt Family Heart Centre at SickKids. The Centre is a global leader in cardiac care, creating unparalleled outcomes in clinical care and research.
redtag.ca and its employees support a variety of fundraising initiatives to benefit The Hospital for Sick Children. Most recently, the TravelBrands Annual Charity Golf Classic was staged, raising over $250,000 to put redtag.ca over the top in its 2018 fundraising goal for the hospital.
Earlier in the year, redtag.ca also sponsored the annual 5 KM Walk for Kids on behalf of the hospital, which was open to employees of three travel organizations: redtag.ca, iTravel2000.com, and TravelBrands. Roughly 100 employees participated, raising about $25,000 for the cause.
Other fundraising events that redtag.ca and its employees support include the annual Mississauga Dragon Boat Festival and Canvases for Kids, the latter of which has teams compete and use their winnings to buy materials to create art "canvases" that are then auctioned off. Proceeds from both events also go toward The Hospital for Sick Children.
"Supporting the community and such a worthy cause gives the redtag.ca family a great deal of satisfaction," added Roberto Gennaro. "We look forward to another rewarding year of giving back in 2019, when we fully expect to again surpass our fundraising goals."
