REGINA, Sept. 13, 2012 /CNW/ - Regina Hearing Services is excited to announce that Lisa Richardson helped Starkey Hearing Foundation give the gift of hearing on its first-ever China mission. This was history in the making as this was the first government sanctioned charity event that has ever been allowed into China. More than 12,000 hearing aids were distributed to hearing impaired children and adults as part of this history-making hearing mission.
During the 10-day hearing mission, Lisa Richardson travelled to Xi'an and Chengdu, China, where they were joined by eight-time NBA All-Star and former Houston Rockets center Yao Ming, two-time NBA All-Star and Los Angeles Clippers forward Caron Butler, NBA China CEO David Shoemaker, and GRAMMY award winning songwriter and producer Dallas Austin.
"I was honored to join the Starkey Hearing Foundation team on this history making mission. It is extremely rewarding to experience the happiness and excitement these children express when they hear sounds for the first time." said Lisa Richardson, M.S. CCC-A, Aud. (c) Audiologist and Director of Regina Hearing Services Incorporated. "We at Regina Hearing Services are priveleged to do our part in delivering the gift of hearing".
This was Starkey Hearing Foundation's first mission to China. The Foundation distributes more than 100,000 hearing aids annually in both the U.S. and around the world and has visited more than 98 countries. As a member of President Clinton's Global Initiative, Starkey Hearing Foundation has pledged to fit one million hearing aids by the end of the decade, and is well on the way to its goal.
