Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo shares a warm thank you on Canada Day
FORT MCMURRAY, AB, June 30, 2016 /CNW/ - Council of the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo wants to take the opportunity on Canada Day to thank Canadians from coast-to-coast-to-coast for their incredible generosity following the mass wildfire evacuation on May 3.
"On behalf of my Council colleagues and all of the residents of our strong community, I want to express a profound thank you to all those who provided support to our community after the devastation of the wildfire," said Mayor Melissa Blake. "And what better time than Canada Day to thank the many Canadians and organizations that stood behind us during these very challenging months. We will never forget what Canadians did for us during our greatest time of need."
The Municipality's own Canada Day celebrations and parade will pay tribute to the many heroic individuals, first responders and organizations who fought the wildfire. Thanks to them and the generosity of the entire country, the region is now on the road to recovery.
