Registration now open for the Canadian Association of Journalists' 2013 conference
OTTAWA, Feb. 26, 2013 /CNW/ - The CAJ is pleased to announce that registration for the 2013 conference is now open.
The conference is scheduled to run from Friday, May 3, to Sunday, May 5, at the Westin Hotel Ottawa. Full-conference and single-day registration is available, with pricing for CAJ members, affiliate members non-members and students. A conference rate has also been set with the Westin. Our hotels page also has information on other options for accommodation near the conference venue. "The annual conference is our premiere event, providing an opportunity for professional development and networking at a reasonable cost," CAJ president Hugo Rodrigues said. "The conference is capped by our annual CAJ Awards gala where we honour the best in Canadian journalism and hand out Canada's top investigative journalism prize, the Don McGillivray Award."
Rates for the conference — unchanged from 2012 — start at $239 plus HST for CAJ members for the full weekend, including a ticket to the awards gala. Student member rates start at $75, with single-day registration starting at $100. These rates will go up on April 20.
For the second time, the CAJ's three-day line up will kick off during Newspapers Canada's annual Ink&Beyond conference, which starts May 1 at the same hotel. This partnership will allow those attending either conference to attend a full day of sessions on the Friday May 3, a day that's capped off by the annual gala for the National Newspaper Awards.
The CAJ is Canada's largest national professional organization for journalists from all media, representing over 400 members across the country. The CAJ's primary roles are to provide public-interest advocacy and high-quality professional development for its members.
