"TVO is part of the social fabric of Ontario," says TVO's Chief Executive Officer, Lisa de Wilde. "And our On the Road events are all about building cohesive communities by enabling a province-wide conversation on what we need to become a global leader for the 21st century. It's a great example of what makes public television in Ontario so unique: our goal is to make a positive difference in people's lives."
Last year TVO and The Agenda with Steve Paikin took citizen engagement and community outreach to a whole new level with the popular five-city Agenda on the Road tour exploring Ontario's regional economies. This year, like last, AgendaCamps will be integral to the success of the tour. The TVO-hosted daylong community forums will bring together community leaders, policymakers, members of the public, program guests, anchor and senior editor Steve Paikin and invited bloggers to share ideas about re-imagining Ontario in the 21st century. Participants will also help determine the agenda for the live broadcast of The Agenda with Steve Paikin the following day.
"I'm looking forward to taking the show on the road again this year," says Steve Paikin. "I found the experience last year to be extremely gratifying - watching people of different backgrounds, different age groups, and different demographics who just connected on so many different levels. It was just so moving and exciting to watch and be a part of. And I'm thrilled we're kicking off the tour in
