CHÂTEAUGUAY, QC, Sept. 19, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - The ministère des Transports du Québec (MTQ) and The Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated (JCCBI) wishes to inform road users that lane closures will be required on the Honoré-Mercier during the two upcoming weekends.
From Friday, September 19th, 10 PM, to Monday, September 22nd, 5 AM, there will be contraflow traffic on the downstream bridge (towards Montreal), with one single lane in each direction. The Airlie access ramp (towards the bridge) will be closed to traffic as well. Only buses will be authorized to take the reserved access ramp; taxis will have to follow the detour via Des Oblats Street.
Lane closures are required for repair work of the structural elements, under the provincial part of the bridge.
Inspection work, causing the closure of one westbound lane (to the South Shore) will also take place on Saturday, September 27th, from 6 AM to Midnight, and on Sunday, September 28th, from 6 AM to Midnight.
During this period, JCCBI will perform reinforcement work on the steel structure on the federal part of the bridge. Hindrances required for their work are integrated in the MTQ's lane closures. This work will require the complete closure of the access ramp coming from Châteauguay towards Montréal.
The Honoré-Mercier is under both provincial and federal jurisdictions. For more information, take a look at the Ministère des Transports du Québec's (MTQ) web page and at the Jacques Cartier Champlain Bridges Incorporated's (JCCBI) web site.
Also remind that paving work is taking place on route 132/138 in Kahnawake, between the Honoré-Mercier Bridge and Châteauguay, until the end of October 2014. Working hours are Sunday to Wednesday from 8 PM to 4:30 AM and Thursday from 10 PM to 4:30 AM. One lane remains open in each direction during these periods.
