LONGUEUIL, QC, Oct. 24, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - The Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated (JCCBI) would like to advise road users that concrete slab repair work is planned on the Île des Sœurs Bridge in anticipation of the coming winter season.
This work will take place over two weekends, starting this weekend from Friday, October 25 at 11:00 p.m. to Monday, October 28 at 5:00 a.m. Two lanes will be kept open to traffic in each direction during the day, but only one lane, reduced to three metres, will be open at night towards the South Shore.
The work will take place from Friday night to Monday morning (see the detailed configuration below) on the weekend of October 26 and 27, as well as on a second weekend (date to be confirmed).
Traffic may be heavier to access the Champlain Bridge from the Turcot Interchange during this period, as well as to access Montreal by the A-15 from the Champlain Bridge.
Road users are encouraged to favour the Bonaventure Expressway to access the Champlain Bridge or island of Montreal for the entire weekend.
Access and exit ramp closures
Access and exit ramps will also be closed on the network near the Île des Sœurs Bridge on Friday night, namely the access ramp from the Bonaventure Expressway to the A-15 South via Exit 4 (Ramp O) at 9 p.m. and Exit 57-S of the A-15 South for access to Île des Sœurs at 11 p.m., these closures will occur for the entire weekend until Monday at 5 a.m.
The access ramp from Gaétan-Laberge Boulevard to the A-15 South (towards the Champlain Bridge) will be closed at night during the periods identified below, but starting at 10:30 p.m. this Friday night.
Île des Sœurs Bridge lane configuration:
First targeted weekend - October 26 and 27
At night: Friday, 11:00 p.m., to Saturday, 9:00 a.m.:
- One lane open towards the South Shore and two lanes open towards Montreal on the Île des Sœurs Bridge.
During the day: Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.:
- Two lanes open per direction (South Shore and Montreal).
At night: Saturday, 10:00 p.m., to Sunday, 10:00 a.m.:
- One lane open towards the South Shore and two lanes open towards Montreal on the Île des Sœurs Bridge.
During the day: Sunday, 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.:
- Two lanes open per direction (South Shore and Montreal).
At night: Sunday, 10:00 p.m., to Monday, 5:00 a.m.:
- One lane open towards the South Shore and two lanes open towards Montreal on the Île des Sœurs Bridge.
