Restaurants Canada talks jobs and economy with Prime Minister Stephen Harper
TORONTO, Nov. 21, 2014 /CNW/ - Restaurateurs from Charlottetown and Calgary sat down with Prime Minister Stephen Harper last month to talk about important issues that affect the foodservice industry – a sector that contributes $68-billion to Canada's economy.
Restaurants Canada Chair Liam Dolan of Prince Edward Island; and Director Gerard Curran of Calgary; were part of a delegation from Restaurants Canada that talked with Harper and Social Development Minister Jason Kenney about the restaurant industry's employment and economic contributions to Canada.
It was part of a series of 23 meetings on Parliament Hill in Ottawa in October. Restaurants Canada members, directors and other leaders in the industry talked with MPs about issues that affect them the most, such as labour shortage and credit card merchant fees.
