Revera Appoints Independent Medical Expert for Review at Calgary Long Term Care Facility

CALGARY, Dec. 5, 2013 /CNW/ - Revera, a provider of seniors' care and services across Alberta, has announced that it has retained Dr. Paul Katz to conduct an independent review at its McKenzie Towne Care Centre in Calgary.  Dr. Katz is recognized around the world as a leader in the long term care field, and is Vice President of Medical Services at Baycrest Health Science Centre, Professor of Medicine at the University of Toronto and former Chief of the Division of Geriatrics and Aging at University of Rochester School of Medicine.

Jeff Lozon, CEO of Revera made the announcement in Calgary today, and said:

"We are very concerned by reports of unacceptable care in this facility, and will investigate all such incidents and develop improvements which will be fully implemented. The incidents recently reported are not in keeping with our long tradition of service in Alberta or in other jurisdictions, and we apologize to the families involved.  Providing high quality care for our residents is our top priority."

Revera is also cooperating fully with Alberta Health Services staff members who are currently onsite at McKenzie Towne conducting the biannual review of the facility.
