Revolutionary BAUER RE-AKT Helmet Hits Retail
New Helmet Specifically Designed to Manage Rotational Forces and Deliver Better Player Protection Against Multiple Types of Hockey Hits Now Available Globally
EXETER, NH, May 18, 2012 /CNW/ - The BAUER RE-AKT helmet, unveiled by Bauer Hockey during the 2012 NHL All-Star Game and worn by several of the game's best players, officially launched today and is now available at retail locations throughout the world.
The BAUER RE-AKT helmet is Bauer Hockey's newest product focused on raising the overall level of player safety in hockey. The BAUER RE-AKT is the first hockey helmet designed to better manage the multiple type of hits in the game, including rotational-force impacts, which have been scientifically proven to cause significant head injuries.
Featuring the innovative SUSPEND-TECH liner, a unique patent-pending rotational impact protection system to protect the head from excessive rotational acceleration when the helmet is impacted, the BAUER RE-AKT is the latest in a long-line of innovative hockey products developed by Bauer Hockey's industry-leading Research, Design & Development engine. The SUSPEND-TECH liner is constructed of PORONÒ XRD™ Extreme Impact Protection, a super-light pliable material with the ability to dissipate extreme force on impact. The free-floating stretchable liner moves independently from the rest of the helmet, thereby better managing rotational forces.
More than two years in development, the BAUER RE-AKT helmet also features PORONÒ XRD™ pads placed strategically in areas of the helmet where players need it most. In addition to the SUSPEND-TECH liner and the use of PORONÒ XRD™ technology which is exclusive to BAUER in hockey, the BAUER RE-AKT helmet features a new light-weight, multi-impact foam that features increased impact management properties compared to traditional EPP foams found in other hockey helmets. Unlike other helmets in the market designed to manage only high-energy impacts, the BAUER RE-AKT is designed to manage the multiple types of hits in hockey - including low-energy impacts, high-energy impacts and rotational impacts.
"Promoting safety in hockey is a key focus for us as a company and the launch of the BAUER RE-AKT helmet marks an important step forward in raising the overall level of protection in the sport," said Kevin Davis, Chief Executive Officer and President, Bauer Performance Sports. "The BAUER RE-AKT helmet is the first hockey helmet specifically designed to protect players from the different types of hits that happen throughout the course of a game. Today's launch is exciting for us as a company, but more importantly, for the overall safety of those who play our sport."
Numerous NHL players, including Alex Ovechkin and Claude Giroux, have worn the BAUER RE-AKT helmet since its introduction to the league in January. In addition to the availability of the helmet at retail, Bauer Hockey also unveiled a comprehensive Web site to provide in-depth detail and education regarding the BAUER RE-AKT helmet.
