Rick Peterson Launches Bid For Leadership of the BC Conservative Party
VANCOUVER, Sept. 23, 2013 /CNW/ - Today Vancouver business man Rick Peterson launched his bid for the leadership of the BC Conservative Party.
Surrounded by his supporters, Peterson kicked off his campaign with a speech focused on tax fairness, accountability and a clear vision for the future of the BC Conservative Party and Conservative movement in British Columbia
"As a BC Conservative, I believe that a government must be guided by four key values that I know are shared by Conservatives everywhere: personal freedom, tax fairness, accountability and social responsibility. If we build our Province on these four core values, we are going in the right direction.
But that's not happening in BC today. Christy Clark does not share these values. British Columbia isn't moving in the right direction."
"Small business - nearly 400,000 of them - are the ones being hit the hardest by the Christy Clark government's predatory tax regime and user fee increases. That's not fair. This is why tax fairness for all will be part of my platform as a leader of a British Columbia Conservative Party; because it's clear that tax fairness is not Christy Clark's concern today."
Peterson added his focus will also include illustrating a new vision for the BC Conservative Party; "Under my Leadership, the BC Conservatives will be united. We will grow. We will respect and support volunteers - the backbone of our organization. We will remain faithful to our religious beliefs, but we will set them aside for the greater cause of uniting our Party around strong policy that strengthens the rich and diverse tapestry of this Province. We will follow a path carved by successful Conservatives everywhere, from Margaret Thatcher and including our own Prime Minister today - a path leading to political success for our Party which rests at the intersection of supporting all Canadians, all residents of BC, and building a successful economy."
The BC Conservative Party will hold its leadership election on April 11th 2014.
