Rights and Freedoms Prize: Call for nominations Français

MONTREAL, April 23, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - The Commission des droits de la personne et des droits de la jeunesse is pleased to announce a call for nomination for the 2013 Rights and Freedoms Prize.
"The Commission invites all institutions and individuals to draw attention to the work of an individual or group who actively works to promote human rights in Québec," said Gaétan Cousineau, president of the Commission des droits de la personne et des droits de la jeunesse.
Created in 1988, the Rights and Freedoms Prize recognizes individuals and organizations making a significant contribution to the defence and promotion of human rights and freedoms in Québec.
Nominations must highlight projects or activities initiated in Québec after January 1, 2012. The award ceremony will be held on December 10, 2013, on the occasion of the adoption of Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
How to submit a nomination
Institutions or individuals who wish to submit a candidacy must send the nomination form along with a two-page letter of intent describing the project, its impacts and why that person/organization is worthy of recognition. The nomination form is available for download from the Commission's website at http://www.cdpdj.qc.ca/Publications/depliant_PDL_2013_En.
In a sustainable development effort, the Commission invites individuals and institutions to submit nominations either by e-mail, on CD or USB drive. However, it will continue to accept nominations by mail.
The deadline is Friday, June 21, 2013, 4 p.m. Complete nomination forms along with the required materials can be sent or delivered to the Commission's head office:

The 2013 Jury for the Rights and Freedoms Prize is made up of the president of the Commission des droits de la personne et des droits de la jeunesse, Gaétan Cousineau, the first employee of the Commission, Monique Rochon and the 2012 laureate of the Rights and Freedoms Prize, Raymond Viger of Journal de la Rue.
