With one more Edmonton auction scheduled for December, the site has already surpassed its 2014 sales record, selling 32,250+ lots for CA$633+ million in 2015
EDMONTON, Oct. 30, 2015 /CNW/ - Ritchie Bros. (NYSE andTSX: RBA), the world's largest industrial auctioneer, sold CA$137+ million (US$104+ million) of heavy equipment and trucks at its unreserved public auction in Edmonton, AB this week (October 27 – 29, 2015). Ritchie Bros.' Edmonton site has already surpassed its 2014 sales record, selling CA$633+ million of equipment at five auctions and surpassing last year's total of CA$569+ million of equipment sold at six auctions. Ritchie Bros. will hold its final Edmonton auction of 2015 from December 10 – 11 (rbauction.com/Edmonton).
"This was our largest October auction ever with solid pricing overall. In particular we saw strong results for motor graders, excavators, winch tractors, service trucks, crawler tractors and pipelayers," said Trent Vandenberghe, Vice President (Sales), Ritchie Bros. "We're very happy that we continue to see record attendance numbers at our auctions this year and deliver strong results for our sellers. These numbers demonstrate confidence in the marketplace as well as our ability to bring buyers to the table. A lot of companies try to do what we do, but none have the experience and global marketing reach we provide. Over the past 50 years we've helped thousands of Alberta companies successfully buy and sell equipment."
This week's auction attracted 10,300+ bidders from 55 countries, including 6,600+ online bidders. Approximately 17 percent of the equipment sold to out-of-country buyers from as far away as Australia, Thailand and the United Kingdom. More than 51 percent of the equipment was purchased by Alberta buyers, while buyers from the United States purchased 13 percent.
"We sold our entire fleet in the auction—more than 750 items—and the results exceeded our expectations," said Ryan Hilton, President & CEO, Spirit Pipelines Ltd., a Wetaskiwin, AB-based pipeline and facility construction company. "There's no other auction company in the world that could have helped us the way Ritchie Bros. did this week. The amount of work that was put in across all levels to get this done was impressive. I would like to offer a huge thank you to the entire Ritchie Bros. team."
"We've purchased equipment from Ritchie Bros. in the past, but this was our first time selling. They were so helpful and accommodating through the whole process: they were patient, they went step-by-step and provided great advice," said Mike Morgan, owner of Viper Trucking, Inc., a Red Deer, AB-based transportation company. "Equipment was going for strong prices this week. Our trailers sold particularly well. Ritchie Bros.' marketing is impressive—we saw bidding from all over the place. In fact a few of our trucks were sold to buyers in B.C. and Manitoba."
