Ritchie Bros. sells CA$731+ million of equipment and trucks at Edmonton, AB site in six 2015 auctions
Final Edmonton auction of 2015 held Dec. 10-12; 6,000 items sold for CA$98+ million (US$71+ million)
EDMONTON, Dec. 14, 2015 /CNW/ - Ritchie Bros., the world's largest industrial auctioneer, sold more than 38,250 equipment items and trucks for CA$731+ million (US$576+ million) in Edmonton, AB in 2015, making it the site's largest year ever. Approximately 55 percent (CA$404+ million or US$317+ million) of the equipment was sold to online buyers. Ritchie Bros. held its sixth and final Edmonton auction of 2015 last week (December 10-12), selling more than 6,000 items for CA$98+ million (US$71+ million). Bids were placed in person, online at rbauction.com and by proxy.

The December 10-12, 2015 auction was Ritchie Bros.' largest-ever December auction in Canada, attracting 9,150+ bidders from 46 countries, including 6,100+ online bidders. Approximately 51 percent (CA$49+ million or US$36+ million) of the equipment was sold to out-of-province bidders from as far away as Australia, India, and the United Kingdom. U.S. buyers purchased 13 percent of the equipment.
Ritchie Bros. set multiple company and site records in Edmonton in 2015. Most notably, Ritchie Bros. held its largest Canadian auction ever, selling a record-breaking 7,700+ items for CA$215+ million (US$177+ million) in Edmonton (April 28 – May 1). The four-day auction attracted 14,000+ bidders from 55 countries, setting a new company record for bidder registrations, surpassing the previous company record by more than 4,500 bidders. Approximately 51 percent (CA$379+ million or US$299+ million) of all the equipment sold in Edmonton in 2015 was sold to Alberta buyers. Out-of-country buyers purchased 13 percent, including 11 percent (CA$84+ million or US$66+ million) purchased by U.S. buyers—which was an increase of four percent over U.S. buyer participation in 2014.
