Ritchie Bros. Sells US$50+ Million of Equipment at Record-Breaking Fort Worth, Texas Auction
More than 3,900 items sold at two-day unreserved public auction—a new Fort Worth site record
FORT WORTH, TEXAS, May 8, 2015 /CNW/ - Ritchie Bros. (NYSE andTSX: RBA), the world's largest industrial auctioneer, sold more than US$50 million of equipment and trucks at its unreserved public auction in Fort Worth, Texas on May 6 – 7, 2015. The two-day auction set a new Fort Worth site record for number of lots sold, with more than 3,900 items being sold to bidders around the world, including 310+ truck tractors, 290+ trailers, 95+ excavators, 45+ flatbed trucks, 50 crawler tractors, 40+ dump trucks, 40+ winch tractors, 35+ farm tractors, and much more. More than 4,000 people from 49 countries registered to bid in person and online at rbauction.com.
"This continues to be a very strong year for our Fort Worth site," said Dolan Aucoin, Regional Sales Manager, Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers. "Across the board, pricing was solid in the auction, with quality construction, agriculture and transportation equipment attracting a lot of new bidders and strong competition. Every piece of the record-setting selection of equipment was sold to the highest bidder, with no reserve prices and no minimum bids."
Equipment in the auction was sold for 500 sellers, including the Oklahoma-based Cummins Construction Company. Established in 1955, Cummins Construction specializes in highway construction, and has worked on projects for the Oklahoma Department of Transportation, the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority, and many more.
"It was great to see a lot of people at this auction, and the prices were steady and good," said Gary Sharp, Equipment Manager for Cummins Construction. "We've been selling with Ritchie Bros. for 20 years. It's always a great experience, and they get great market value for our equipment."
Buyers from outside Texas purchased approximately US$27 million of equipment and trucks (or 55 percent of total gross auction proceeds). Equipment sold to buyers from as far away as Australia, Chile, Italy, Taiwan and the United Arab Emirates.
