Road To The Royal Continues at Port Hope Fair on September 16
Public can sample creations prepared by chefs using local food ingredients
TORONTO, Sept. 11, 2017 /CNW/ - The Royal Agricultural Winter Fair continues its 2017 season with the second of the Egg Farmers of Ontario Road to The Royal Farm to Table Events, which feature culinary demonstrations and sampling. The upcoming event is at the Port Hope Fair on Saturday, September 16th from 2:00pm to 3:30pm in the Fall Fair Centre of the Port Hope Fairgrounds.
"The Egg Farmers of Ontario Road to The Royal events have been a big hit with audiences across Ontario over the past four years," says Charlie Johnstone, chief executive officer at The Royal. "In the past, we have focused on culinary competitions but this year we're all about local food – and giving our audiences a chance to see and taste how local farm produce is transformed into a delicious meal."
The Port Hope event will feature two local chefs: Matt Allen from The Mill Restaurant & Pub in Cobourg and Kevin Brown from KB Food in Whitby. Both chefs are Feast On certified, which means their dining establishments have been recognized for a commitment to sourcing Ontario grown and made food and drink. The chefs will be joined by local food producers including Vicki McMillan from Empire Cheese and Butter Co-op in Campbellford, egg producer Brenda Metcalf from Bowmanville and milk producer Charles Stuart from Port Hope, who will be on hand to answer questions about their work. In addition to the stage demo, the Egg Farmers of Ontario Road to the Royal Farm to Table Demonstration chefs will provide samples of their creations to the audience.
The 2017 Egg Farmers of Ontario Road to The Royal program is supported in part by Celebrate Ontario.
