Robins & Morton Uses Textura-CPM to Facilitate Integrated Project Delivery on Hospital Project
Project Management Team Uses Textura Payment Management Solution to Improve Processes, Reduce Risks and Increase Visibility Into Activities.
CHICAGO, Jan. 8, 2015 /CNW/ -- Textura Corporation (NYSE: TXTR), the leading provider of collaboration solutions for the construction industry, announced that General Contractor Robins & Morton is using Textura-Construction Payment Management™ (CPM™) to facilitate Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) on a state-of-the-art hospital project in New England.
Robins & Morton, a Birmingham, Alabama-based general contractor specializing in complex health care, commercial, education and industrial projects, is using the IPD project delivery methodology on the MaineGeneral Medical Center Alfond Center for Health project. IPD promotes rich collaboration across project participants – Owner, Architect, General Contractor, major Subcontractors – throughout the construction process. This approach seeks to improve communications, increase efficiency and lead to better project outcomes overall.
Robins & Morton Controller John Rives said: "One of the main challenges in IPD is the need for collaboration among a disparate group of stakeholders. Our previous experience with Textura's CPM application made us quickly realize that if we leveraged its full functionality on this IPD project, we could simplify the coordination of project documents and mitigate many of the financial risks inherent in construction."
Textura-CPM is an online collaboration solution that streamlines and automates payment management. CPM integrates processes, including billing, lien waiver collection, progress claims, statutory declarations, sub-tier waivers, compliance management and payments, into a seamless, collaborative workflow.
According to Robins & Morton, CPM enabled the project management team (PMT) and other stakeholders to work together using a common, real-time database of financial information, including invoices, change orders, contract compliance documents and payments.
"CPM enables true collaboration to support IPD. Everyone on the project, including two or three levels of sub-tier Subcontractors, used CPM to electronically process invoices, lien waivers and compliance documents. And everyone had access to the latest information, providing the visibility they needed without compromising security or confidentiality," Rives said.
Steve Wiley, Robins & Morton Senior Project Manager, said: "Textura customized a process flow to meet the needs of the PMT. Now everyone has access to the information they need in real time, but they play their part in the approval process only at the right point in time. This greatly facilitated coordination across the project."
Rick Albert, MaineGeneral Hospital Facilities Manager, added: "The benefits from CPM extended well beyond the PMT by expediting payment processing. This allowed electronic payments to be released earlier by MaineGeneral and received faster by contractors and vendors. This made CPM a win-win for everyone."
Textura Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Patrick Allin said: "We have long viewed IPD and public-private partnership projects as ideally suited to our CPM and Textura-Pre-Qualification Management applications. Our collaboration solutions enable the diverse participants in construction projects to work together online to improve project outcomes. We are thrilled that Robins & Morton, which has been a CPM client for several years, and the IPD project team have benefitted from greater control and transparency of financial activities on this complex project," Allin said.
