TORONTO, July 23, 2014 /CNW/ - Family Channel proves that geek is chic this summer with the premiere of the newest Disney Channel Original Movie How to Build a Better Boy. Debuting Friday, August 15 at 8 p.m. ET/PT, day and date with Disney in the US, the futuristic flick features recording artist China Anne McClain (A.N.T. Farm) and Disney XD's Kelli Berglund (Lab Rats) as tech-savvy high school sophomores who design the perfect boy with a computer program and, in the process, trigger a national incident. The adventure comedy is part of an exciting Night of Premieres, beginning at 7 p.m. ET/PT, featuring brand new episodes of Girl Meets World and Jessie.
For best friends and straight-A students Gabby Harrison (McClain) and Mae Hartley (Berglund) being smart comes naturally, but being popular is a whole other story. So, when the girl's get caught up in a little white lie about Mae's boyfriend, Albert – who doesn't actually exist, the two come up with a plan to create the perfect boyfriend using design software belonging to Mae's father. However, when Albert comes to life as an advanced robotic soldier, the girls soon learn that Mae's father works for a top-secret military branch, which is now in pursuit of Gabby and Mae, as well as Albert, to ensure he doesn't fall into the wrong hands.
