Robyn Carr Named 2016 RWA Lifetime Achievement Award Recipient
TORONTO, March 21, 2016 /CNW/ -- Harlequin shared the news today that #1 New York Times bestselling author Robyn Carr was named the 2016 recipient of the RWA Nora Roberts Lifetime Achievement Award from Romance Writers of America.
"We couldn't be more delighted," said Loriana Sacilotto, Harlequin's Executive Vice President of Global Editorial. "Robyn is one of the most popular romance writers in the world. Her stories, centering on the lives of characters in small-town America, are richly drawn tapestries that gracefully blend romance and complex issues. She draws readers in with her unique voice, an easy charm, textured settings and by imbuing her characters with an indelible strength that allows them to confront challenges in their search for love and fulfillment."
Robyn will receive the award at a ceremony at the RWA's national conference in San Diego, CA, on July 16, 2016.
The RWA Nora Roberts Lifetime Achievement Award is one of the highest honors bestowed by the RWA. The award is presented to a living author in recognition of significant contributions to the romance genre. To qualify for the award, the recipient's career in romantic fiction must span a minimum of 15 years, and the recipient must promote the romance genre, teach romance in fiction or publish romantic fiction. Of the 33 authors to receive the RWA Nora Roberts Lifetime Achievement Award, 27 have written for Harlequin.
Carr, who writes for Harlequin's MIRA Books imprint, is the creator of the wildly popular Virgin River and Thunder Point series. The Las Vegas, Nevada, resident has had 11 books reach the coveted #1 spot on the New York Times bestseller list and has written more than fifty novels since 1978.
In April 2016, MIRA Books will publish What We Find, their first Robyn Carr hardcover novel. What We Find is the first book in a brand-new series set in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, and explores the healing powers of fresh starts, budding relationships and one woman's journey to find the happiness she's long been missing.
