Rock 95 / Kool FM Barrie to Receive Fire Safety Award
TORONTO, June 16, 2014 /CNW/ - Rock 95 / Kool FM Barrie will receive a Fire Safety Award from the Fire Marshal's Public Fire Safety Council at a ceremony on June 19, 2014 in Toronto. The annual Fire Safety Awards recognize outstanding contributions to fire protection and prevention in Ontario.
For the past three years, Rock 95 / Kool FM Barrie have partnered with Barrie Fire and Emergency Service to raise awareness about fire safety issues in the community. These radio stations have donated substantial air time to broadcasting fire safety messages at opportune times, such as immediately after a fire occurrence in the community, in addition to posting information on their social media sites.
Every year during Fire Prevention Week, the radio stations dedicate time each day to promote fire safety. This past December, they provided daily airtime to promote holiday fire safety.
Rock 95 / Kool FM Barrie have also agreed to be the media sponsors for the fire department's Hot Summer Nights campaign this upcoming summer. They plan to provide the fire department with three spots each Thursday this summer to broadcast live from location.
"Barrie Fire and Emergency Service know they can rely upon these radio stations to help them inform the community about fire and life safety issues," said Ted Wieclawek, Chair, Fire Marshal's Public Fire Safety Council. "Rock 95 / Kool FM Barrie are invaluable allies in their quest to keep the residents of Simcoe County safe from fire."
