Rocket Scientist, Natalie Panek, Plus Comedians And Actors, Jonny Harris And Martin Short Open the First Day Of HealthAchieve 2015

The annual conference and trade show introduces the first-ever technology destination at HealthAchieve

TORONTO, Nov. 2, 2015 /CNW/ - HealthAchieve, the signature conference and trade show of the Ontario Hospital Association and one of the largest shows of its kind in North America, kicks off today at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre with a promising speaker line-up including rocket scientist Natalie Panek and two Canadian comedians and actors – Jonny Harris and Martin Short.

This year, HealthAchieve, bringing a revitalized focus on the elements of "learn, share and evolve," for more than nine decades has attracted the best and brightest minds and the top decision-makers. Today HealthAchieve will feature:

• Jonny Harris: The comedian and actor will do a stand-up comedy routine including his move from Newfoundland to Toronto, as well as on-set anecdotes from Murdoch Mysteries, road stories from his work on Still Standing and some personal reflection on his own experiences with the health industry and hospitals. • Martin Short: A celebrated comedian and actor, Mr. Short will share stories from his new book, I Must Say, and his personal connection to health care and cancer in particular. [10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Room 105, 106 & 107, MTCC]
• Natalie Panek: A rocket scientist and advocate for women in technology, Natalie will illustrate how the on-going pursuit of knowledge should take place throughout life and across an array of experiences. Her talk encourages others to be drawn to the rewards of challenge and learning. [3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Room 201 BDF, MTCC]
• John Nosta: Digital health philosopher, John Nosta will speak about the digital health revolution including defining digital health, driving trends in digital health and technology for today and tomorrow. [3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Room 106, MTCC]

The award-winning tradeshow floor will feature close to 300 exhibitors demonstrating the latest in health care innovation. This year HealthAchieve will host their first-ever technology destination.

A partnership with the Intelligent Health Association (IHA), the Intelligent Hospital Pavilion™ (IHP) will provide attendees with the opportunity to see the powerful impacts and uses of technology in action. The IHP is a must-see attraction on the exhibit floor, featuring state-of-the-art emergency and patient demonstration rooms, a video of Humber River Hospital's fully integrated digital hospital, and a live showcase of the latest devices – allowing attendees to get up close and personal with wearable technologies.

Attendees will get guided tours and live demonstrations of how a number of technologies, when integrated together in real-time, can result in improved patient care and patient safety, while helping the hospital produce better operating efficiencies. At the Demonstration Zone, attendees will be able to test out wearable technologies including: Apple Watch, Garmin VivoActive, Pebble, Google Glass, Scanadu Scout, and GoBe.
