Rogers and Fido customers will experience faster speeds with increased LTE coverage at Main and Broadway and a new cellular tower is coming for Sage Creek
WINNIPEG, Sept. 28, 2017 /CNW/ - Rogers today announced it continues to invest in communities across Manitoba with expanded wireless service and network improvements at Main and Broadway in Downtown Winnipeg and in residential Sage Creek.
"Our customers want wireless access wherever they are, whether it's to keep in touch with friends and family, or do business in Winnipeg," said Colin Bartlett, Director Prairies Region, Rogers Communications. "That's why we're investing, continuing to make sure they have worry-free, and reliable access to our world class network in more places. As communities across the province keep growing, we're going to continue to improve service across Manitoba."
Rogers and Fido customers will experience improved LTE coverage to make calls, access the internet, stream music and video as they travel, meet up with friends, shop and dine near the historic Union Station and The Forks. Customers continue to access our world-class network and enjoy the same high quality, reliable service they have come to expect from Rogers. Improved coverage also extends to adjacent commercial businesses and residents in this bustling area of Downtown Winnipeg.
Rogers is also pleased to also announce construction is underway on a new cellular tower in the community of Sage Creek in Winnipeg. This is a growing area, and the anticipated new wireless coverage will provide service for customers in their homes, businesses, at schools, government agencies and for emergency first responders.
"Winnipeg is a modern and vibrant city that is poised for continued growth," said Winnipeg Mayor Brian Bowman. "These investments will be a welcome addition to improving wireless connectivity in our downtown and to the residents in Sage Creek."
LTE is the fastest generation of wireless service in Canada, providing stronger, more consistent data speeds, similar to high speed broadband home Internet and allowing customers to stream and do more on the go with less buffering. The improved service also provides HD quality voice services when using a device enabled with VoLTE, the latest voice technology. This is of particular benefit to local businesses.
"As a young entrepreneur focused on making innovative eco solutions available to all Canadians, I am always on the go and rarely sitting at a desk," said Kevin Shale, President and CEO, Low Environmental Impact Technology. "What's important for my business is reliability and making sure that we're always connected. With Rogers Unison and now improved wireless service, we can provide a much better experience to our dealers across the country and it lets me stay better connected with my team wherever they are."
In addition to these improvements, to meet the rising demand for wireless voice and data services in Manitoba, Rogers placed several new wireless sites in service earlier this year in Winnipeg including; Riverview, Ridgewood, Inkster Industrial Park, McPhillips Ave, and Unicity, as well as in Brandon North Hill.
