TORONTO, Feb. 5, 2013 /CNW/ - Rogers Communications today announced that Nadir Mohamed, President and CEO, Rogers Communications and Thorsten Heins, President and CEO, BlackBerry®, sold one of the first BlackBerry Z10 smartphones in North America on February 5th 2013, at the Rogers flagship store in downtown Toronto. Rogers opened its doors early to welcome early-bird customers and one of the first customers in the world to reserve a BlackBerry Z10 smartphone.
"It's great to be able to continue to offer our customers more choice and more innovation as the smartphone ecosystem evolves," said Nadir Mohamed, president and CEO, Rogers Communications. "Rogers and BlackBerry share a rich history, and together, delivered the first BlackBerry in Canada over 10 years ago. Today, it's exciting to build on this history and be among the first to offer our customers the new BlackBerry Z10 experience."
The new BlackBerry Z10 is the first smartphone to launch with the re-designed, re-engineered and re-invented BlackBerry 10 platform, providing customers with a powerful and unique new mobile computing experience. Combined with the Rogers LTE network, Canada's fastest wireless internet, the BlackBerry Z10 smartphone is the fastest and most advanced BlackBerry smartphone yet, and offers a smarter experience that continuously adapts to a customer's needs.
"We are very excited to partner with Rogers to mark the sale of one of the first BlackBerry Z10 smartphones in North America," said Thorsten Heins, President and CEO, BlackBerry.
