Rogers TV Barrie to receive Fire Safety Award
TORONTO, June 19, 2012 /CNW/ - Rogers TV Barrie will receive a Fire Safety Award from the Fire Marshal's Public Fire Safety Council at a ceremony on June 26, 2012 in Toronto. The annual Fire Safety Awards recognize outstanding contributions to fire protection and prevention in Ontario.
Rogers TV Barrie has provided Barrie Fire & Emergency Service with a voice in the community, having asked them to participate as regular guests on many local shows and airing interviews about fire safety. In December, Rogers partnered with the fire department in their 12 Days of Fire Safety campaign, to help prevent fire losses that tend to occur over the holiday season.
Rogers TV Barrie recently accepted a show proposal presented by the Barrie Fire & Emergency Service for a bi-weekly, live, call-in talk show called Clear to Respond with BFES. The show provides a behind-the-scenes look at the fire department and highlights important fire safety issues. The show has featured segments on carbon monoxide alarms and smoke alarms, as well as an interview with the Fire Chief. Viewers have the opportunity to call in with questions, which are answered by a fire safety expert for the benefit of the entire viewing audience.
"Rogers TV Barrie has enhanced its ongoing support of Barrie Fire & Emergency Services by providing them with a unique and innovative way to reach out to the community with life-saving fire safety messages," said Ted Wieclawek, Ontario Fire Marshal.
The Fire Marshal's Public Fire Safety Council gratefully acknowledges the support of its sponsors in this event: Technical Standards and Safety Authority, The Co-operators Group, Kidde Canada Inc., Home Depot of Canada Inc., Proctor & Gamble Inc., Domino's Pizza of Canada, Electrical Safety Authority, Canadian Standards Association Group and Enbridge Gas Distribution.
