Rothmans, Benson & Hedges Inc. Partners with Tree Canada to sustain urban forests in Toronto Français
TORONTO, Dec. 19, 2018 /CNW/ - Rothmans, Benson & Hedges Inc. (RBH), a subsidiary of Philip Morris International, has partnered with Tree Canada through the Partnership in Planting program.
In support of Tree Canada's vision of green communities, the RBH partnership includes a $20,000 contribution towards tree planting events in the spring and fall of 2019. RBH employees will donate their time to plant trees in the North York region near the company's Toronto head office.
"Making a better future for the world starts here at home – and our partnership with Tree Canada is an opportunity to empower RBH employees to make a difference in their communities," said Peter Luongo, RBH managing director for Canada.
"RBH and Tree Canada share the same goal of growing better places to live for Canadians. RBH strives to be a leader in sustainable development and it's our people who can change the world, one act at a time," said Luongo.
A partnership with Tree Canada creates long-term value for society and shareholders by reducing the impact on the environment of the company's products, operations and value chain and by elevating the community contribution of its employees.
RBH is committed to constantly improving its business activities to achieve the highest global standards of environmental sustainability. One of the ways RBH will achieve this is by combating deforestation by demanding full traceability of wood used in tobacco curing; engaging with key suppliers of wood-based materials to assess and reduce the risk of deforestation in their supply chains; and joining multi-stakeholder initiatives.
RBH is committed to creating a more sustainable, smoke-free future through science and innovation.
