ROXUL® Celebrates Grand Opening of First Facility in United States
Marshall County, Mississippi Plant Will Help Meet Growing Demand
MARSHALL COUNTY, MS, Sept. 24, 2014 /CNW/ - ROXUL Inc., the leading manufacturer of stone wool insulation products in North America today celebrated the official opening of its first manufacturing facility in the United States, located in Marshall County, Mississippi.
ROXUL President Trent Ogilvie, ROCKWOOL International CEO Eelco van Heel and Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant cut the ribbon at the grand opening, which was followed by a tour of the $160 million plant. The factory encompasses 600,000 square feet and is located on a 100-acre site in the Chickasaw Trail Industrial Park, approximately 30 miles south of Memphis.
The company officially broke ground on May 8, 2013, and construction at times included more than 500 workers on site. Completion took more than 750,000 man hours, with no lost time for accidents.
"This is truly a historic occasion for ROXUL," said Ogilvie. "When conducting our site selection due diligence, it was clear that the State of Mississippi and Marshall County provided us the optimal location from both a manufacturing and distribution standpoint. The support ROXUL has received from the community and the State has been terrific. We couldn't have found a better place to call home."
ROXUL continues to experience growth throughout North America, and the new facility will ensure it can meet its customers' growing demands. This location will help ROXUL maintain its strong growth in key insulation markets such as residential, commercial building, flat roof, and industrial applications, in the mid and southern USA and Mexico. ROXUL began production in June, 2014 in Marshall County.
"Today is an exciting day for the entire state of Mississippi as ROXUL opens its cutting-edge manufacturing facility, the company's first in the U.S., in Marshall County," Gov. Bryant said. "The company is also putting Mississippi in the global spotlight - helping us show the world that great things are happening in our state and that Mississippi is a wonderful place for business. We have the infrastructure, the resources and the workforce to ensure growth and success for our companies. I have no doubt ROXUL will thrive here in Byhalia and I congratulate the ROXUL team and everyone involved with the project on this milestone. I wish the company many successful years in our state."
The Marshall County plant will employ 150, with key operators and supervisors having trained more than 30,000 hours in Canada, Denmark, Holland and Wales.
ROXUL now operates three North American facilities, with the first US-based plant joining locations in Grand Forks, British Columbia and Milton, Ontario.
ROXUL's high quality insulation is made from natural stone and contains up to 40 percent recycled material with zero waste to landfill. ROXUL's superior insulation saves energy, absorbs sound and is fire resistant. ROXUL is a leading choice for architects, building professionals and homeowners.
