Royal Agricultural Winter Fair launches poster competition
Poster designs to reflect The Royal's contemporary 'Farm fresh Fun' spirit
TORONTO, May 1, 2014 /CNW/ - It's an opportunity for aspiring artists across the country to get creative and help present a fresh look to an iconic Canadian agricultural showcase with a rich history that stretches back for nearly a century.
As it prepares for its 92nd year celebrating "Farm fresh Fun", the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair is holding a contest to find original artwork that can be used in a commemorative poster that reflects the The Royal today.
The winning poster design will be used to promote this year's fair, which runs November 7-16, 2014 at the Direct Energy Centre and Ricoh Coliseum in Toronto.
"While The Royal is proud of our heritage, The Fair is also the place to come and experience the fresh, new and evolving innovations in Canadian agriculture and equine excellence," says Sandra Banks, CEO of The Royal. "We are looking for a poster design which captures this spirit of heritage and contemporary innovation."
The Royal will receive submissions in the poster competition up until midnight on Thursday, July 31st. The contest is open to residents of Canada (as per provincial regulations) who have reached the age of majority in their province or territory.
Artists may use any medium in their submissions — including photographs, drawings, paintings and sculptures — provided the pieces are submitted in a digital format. Poster submissions must be 18 inches by 24 inches at final size with a resolution of 300 DPI in either PDF, JPG or EPS formats.
There is a maximum of one design submission per entrant and artwork can only be submitted by email. Entry forms and full contest details can be found at www.royalfair.org.
In addition to having their artwork showcased at a prestigious event that draws hundreds of thousands of visitors each year, the Grand Prize Winner of the contest will take home $2,500, plus four complimentary day passes to the fair. Five runners up will also be chosen and will each receive two complimentary day passes to the fair.
