New Legion Lager also premieres
OTTAWA, Sept. 14, 2017 /CNW/ - A new and special row of 100 Veterans' images will line the route as tens of thousands of participants run, walk or roll in this year's Canada Army Run in Ottawa. "Remembrance Row" is a way to help Canadians honour and remember Veterans of the past and act as a poignant reminder of the service and sacrifice of service men and women through the years, up to and including today.
The 500-metre Remembrance Row will be located mid-way along the route On Colonel By Drive beside the Rideau Canal. Participants in all events and onlookers will have a chance to see the photographs submitted by family and friends of deceased Veterans.
Canada Army Run focuses on Canada's Armed Forces: The Air Force, Army and Navy coming together as a community for fun and friendly competition. The run is part of a weekend long event that begins on Friday morning. Open to all citizens, the huge event is a chance for members of the Armed Forces and Canadians to thank one another for their ongoing support.
The run also benefits the Soldier On Program and the Support our Troops fund, two charities that fund and support ill and injured soldiers and military families faced with immediate needs related to their service.
Another new feature of this year's run is Legion Lager by Whitewater Brewing Company. Five percent of all Legion Lager sales go towards Legion programs to support Veterans across Canada. Half Marathon and Commander's Challenge finishers will receive a free sample after the event.
