Royal Canadian Mint issues new one-ounce 99999 pure gold bullion coin on 5th anniversary of its epic "Million Dollar Coin" and continues its Canadian Wildlife Silver bullion coin series with the Pronghorn Antelope Français
OTTAWA, Aug. 9, 2012 /CNW/ - The Royal Canadian Mint is pleased to announce the addition of two exciting new coins to its growing family of industry-leading bullion products with a one-ounce, 99.999% pure gold bullion coin issued in celebration of the fifth anniversary of the Mint's 100-kilo gold "Million Dollar Coin" and a 99.99% pure silver one-ounce coin featuring the Pronghorn Antelope as part of its popular Silver Wildlife bullion coin series. These highly anticipated bullion coins were unveiled today at the American Numismatic Association's World's Fair of Money Fair in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (USA) before a premier gathering of bullion dealers and distributors, precious metal investors, world mints and coin collectors.
"The Royal Canadian Mint understands that best-in-class quality, purity and innovation are essential to sustaining demand for its gold and silver bullion products and it is pleased to offer precious metal investors and collectors world-wide exclusive new gold and silver bullion coins which continue to meet their high expectations" said Ian E. Bennett, President and CEO of the Royal Canadian Mint. "The Mint's exclusive line of 99.999% pure Gold Maple Leaf bullion coins and its Silver Wildlife bullion coin series are perennial marketplace favourites and we are proud that our new gold and silver bullion coins continue to stand out for their uncompromising excellence."
The 2012-dated 99.999% pure gold bullion coin celebrates the fifth anniversary of the historic release of the Mint's famed 100-kilogram 99.999% pure Gold Maple Leaf bullion coin with a one million dollar face value, hailed in 2007 as the world's largest gold coin and still unrivaled for its purity. To be produced on demand, this coin features the same design by Senior Mint Engraver Stan Witten found on the original "Million Dollar Coin'. It is the fifth issue in an exclusive line of 99.999% pure, one-ounce gold bullion coins first introduced by the Mint in 2007.
The fifth release of the Mint's six-coin Canadian Wildlife silver bullion coin series features a beautiful image of the Pronghorn Antelope illustrated by Canadian artist and accomplished coin designer Emily S. Damstra. Ranging from southern Alberta and Saskatchewan to the central and western United States, as well as the Baja Peninsula and parts of Northern Mexico, the Pronghorn is a true North American symbol of the abundant native wildlife still found on our continent.
The 99.99% pure silver, 2013-dated one-ounce silver bullion coin will be produced to a maximum mintage of one million coins and will soon be available through the Mint's extensive network of bullion distributors. The final issue in this six-coin series will be announced in early 2013.
It is important to note that Mint does not sell bullion directly to the public. Since the introduction of its first bullion coin in 1979, the Mint only sells bullion in large volumes to a global network of bullion distributors, who have the required infrastructure to sell and buy back bullion on a daily basis, and at real-time market prices.
