OTTAWA, Sept. 22, 2015 /CNW/ - The Royal Canadian Mint stands out among nominees in the running for the International Association of Currency Affairs (IACA) 2015 Excellence in Currency Awards by earning nominations in two of the four categories of IACA's annual awards program. Produced by the Mint for the Reserve Bank of New Zealand and NZ Post, the 50-cent 100th anniversary of Anzac coin featuring advanced pad-printed colouring technology is nominated for the Best New Commemorative or Test Circulating Coin award and the Mint's multi-platform consumer marketing program for the 25-cent circulation coins celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Canadian Arctic Expedition is a finalist in the Best Public Education Program or Website category.
The Excellence in Currency Awards awards were introduced by IACA in 2007 to promote and recognise excellence in currency issue, production, processing, management and distribution. This year's awards will be presented on October 21, 2015, at the 2015 Coin Conference in Madrid, Spain.
The Mint has won three previous Excellence in Currency awards: the 2006 25-cent Pink Ribbon circulation coin in the Best New Coin category (2007); the Vancouver 2010 Winter Games commemorative circulation coin program in the Best New Coin Series category (2011); and the multi-ply plated steel $1 and $2 circulation coins with advanced security features, introduced in 2012, in the Best New Coin Innovation category (2013).
