New pure gold and fine silver collector coins feature four generations of Canada's Royal Family
OTTAWA, July 22, 2014 /CNW/ - The Royal Canadian Mint is pleased to wish His Royal Highness Prince George of Cambridge a happy first birthday and is delighted to commemorate four generations of Canada's Royal Family on new gold and silver collector coins.
"On behalf of all employees at the Royal Canadian Mint, I would like to wish Prince George a happy first birthday," said Marc Brûlé, Interim President and CEO of the Royal Canadian Mint. "The Mint continues to celebrate special events in the life of Canada's Royal Family, and we have proudly handcrafted new coins with a unique portrait featuring four generations which will be a beautiful addition for any royal collection."
The coins feature a portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II with three generations of heirs to the British throne: Prince Charles, Prince William, and Prince George. Prince William holds Prince George as the infant wears his long christening robes and sits contentedly in his father's arms.
Available as of tomorrow, the Royal Generations fine silver coin bears a $20 face value and has a limited mintage of only 10,000. The pure gold coin features a $200 denomination and has a limited mintage of only 350.
