TORONTO, 27 July 2016 /CNW/ - RSA Canada announces that Rowan Saunders, its President & CEO since 2003, will be leaving the business to take up a new position as President & CEO of Economical Insurance. This is a great opportunity for Rowan to lead the company through its demutualisation and subsequent life as a public company.
Rowan will be replaced by Martin Thompson, currently SVP Commercial Insurance & Global Specialty Lines, who will become President and Acting CEO of RSA Canada effective today. In these capacities Martin will join the Board of RSA Canada and the Executive Committee of RSA Group reporting to its CEO Stephen Hester.

Bio on Martin Thompson:
Martin was appointed to Senior Vice President, Commercial Insurance and Global Specialty Lines in February 2015. He joined RSA Canada as Senior Vice President, Global Specialty Lines in September, 2013 from RSA's Scandinavian operations where he held the position of Director, Underwriting and Risk. Martin joined the Group in 1997, and has held progressive senior roles within the business including Director of Commercial Insurance in the Canadian business from 2008 to 2010, and Underwriter Director, Packages in the UK business. Martin is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute in the UK and a graduate of the University of Glasgow.
