TORONTO, April 19, 2012 /CNW/ - The Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, 27th Governor General and Commander-in-Chief of Canada, today opened Taking Charge: Women Leaders in Business Symposium presented by the Professional Development Institute.
This is the second women's symposium hosted by The Professional Development Institute, a division of Certified Management Accountants of Ontario. The conference provides an opportunity for women in business to gather and hear from leading business women in Canada.
"This is an opportunity for women to take pause, celebrate their success, and build their leadership capacity," says Janet Treasure, Vice-president, Professional Development, CMA Ontario. "Today's guests will share a rare glimpse into the passion and vision that Mme Jean holds for her Foundation and this country," says Treasure.
Attendees will hear from experts on two morning panel discussions: the first moderated by Glain Roberts-McCabe, Founder and President of The Executive Roundtable who will discuss the secrets to getting promoted that no one ever told you; the second moderated by Anne Golden, President and CEO of The Conference Board of Canada who will speak with women in senior management - where they are now and how they rose to success. In the afternoon, Beata Caranci, Vice President and Deputy Chief Economist TD Bank Financial Group, will speak candidly as she shares her vision for tomorrow's economy.
