Russel Metals Supports Higher Education

TORONTO, April 6, 2015 /CNW/ - Russel Metals Inc. (RUS - TSX) today announced that its employee scholarship program has reached the $1 million level.  The scholarship program provides first year scholarships to children of its employees who are attending post secondary education at universities, colleges and technical schools.

Francine McMullen, Vice President Human Resources commented, "We award the students whose high school marks exceed an average of 75% and attend a recognized school.  We grant 30 to 40 scholarships each year to assist in education costs."

Brian Hedges, President and CEO commented, "Our employees are the finest in the industry and we offer a number of industry leading programs that support our employees and their families.  I am also pleased to say that our involvement with the Metals Service Center Institute has resulted in over $100,000 of additional scholarships for children of Russel Metals' employees.  This scholarship program is funded through the fundraising activities at the local chapter level where our service center operations are located."
