SAINT-LAURENT, QC, June 19, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - On June 14, the borough of Saint-Laurent unveiled a magnificent historical and artistic video—the winning entry in a competition organized in cooperation with Ville de Montréal's Bureau du design, within the "Saint-Laurent in motion" project.
The dazzling, festive, 10-minute video, will be presented every evening this summer, at 9 p.m. and 9:15 p.m., on the front façade of Église Saint-Laurent in Vieux-Saint-Laurent—the Borough's historical and heritage sector. A preview of the videoprojection is available on Saint-Laurent Youtube channel.
Before the launching of the videoprojection, numerous activities, organized by some forty organizations, were held at Parc Gohier, followed by a colourful parade. More than 1000 people participated in the activities.
Mobile application and tourist guide
To showcase the Borough's various heritage, historical, cultural, natural and urban assets and to promote active means of transportation, Saint-Laurent's Administration also launched a mobile application as well as a tourist guide and map. Residents will therefore be able to interactively explore Saint-Laurent territory on their own.
"Saint-Laurent wants residents and workers to discover the Borough in another way. We are delighted to offer them new tools to strengthen their feeling of belonging to the Saint-Laurent community," stated Borough Mayor Alan DeSousa. "Whether using yesterday's or today's technology, everyone will have ways of finding out more about Saint-Laurent's history and keeping up to date on activities on our territory."
The mobile application prompts users to interact, share their favourites, schedule the activities they want to see, download photos on the mobile application, view videos and connect with "Saint-Laurent in motion" social networks.
The tourist map outlines over 100 attractions and five tours to discover while walking or cycling in sectors of Saint-Laurent that are representative of its development.
