Sakto Corporation and Ottawa Food Bank Raise Record Funds for Local Families with Children in Need
OTTAWA, Ontario, March 15, 2017 /CNW/ -- The Heels for Meals fundraiser, hosted by Sakto Corporation Chairman Jamilah Taib Murray and the Ottawa Food Bank, raised $22,000 in support of its Baby Basics Program. The program ensures essential baby food and supplies reach struggling families across the city of Ottawa.
"I am proud that the Ottawa community, particularly female business leaders across the city, came together to raise awareness for the Baby Basics Program and the invaluable support the program provides Ottawa's families and children in need," said Sakto Corporation Chairman Jamilah Taib Murray. "With about 15,000 children dependent on the Baby Basics Program per month, our work here is only beginning and we will continue to provide meaningful ways to get involved with the organization."
Participation in the sold-out luncheon and silent auction ensures that the Ottawa Food Bank can meet its high demand for baby supplies during this fiscal year. The Ottawa Food Bank recorded a significant price increase for baby products in 2016, marking the importance of the Baby Basics Program and its ability to provide diapers, baby food, and formula to families struggling with poverty.
