Sakto Corporation Supports Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario Foundation and the Children's Aid Foundation of Ottawa at Annual Ski for Kids; Jamilah Taib Murray: Proud to Help Worthy Cause
OTTAWA, Feb. 18, 2016 /CNW/ -- This month, real estate holding and investment firm Sakto Corporation sponsored and participated in the annual Ski for Kids charity event for the twelfth consecutive year. Held on February 12, Ski for Kids raised a record amount well over $300,000 for the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario Foundation (CHEO) and the Children's Aid Foundation of Ottawa (CAFO).
"We are proud to support a commendable charity like Ski for Kids," said Sakto Corporation Chairman Jamilah Taib Murray. "Not only do we donate, but our staff participates every year in the ski challenge to help children that are ill and in need within our community. It is an event we all look forward to every year."
Ski for Kids is an annual event where teams of four have a fun day on the slopes as they compete in ski challenges for prizes and trophies. All net proceeds from the $800 per team entry fee are donated to CHEO, CAFO, and Junior Ski Development at Mont-Ste-Marie.
CHEO is a health care centre dedicated to providing comprehensive care to children and young people in Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec. The foundation seeks to further the physical, mental, and social well-being of children and their families by raising, managing, and disbursing funds for research, purchasing new equipment, enhancing the pediatric nature of the hospital, training staff, and assisting families in crisis.
CAFO raises essential funds for children and youth who are in the care of and supported by the Children's Aid Society of Ottawa. CAFO inspires and empowers kids to reach their full potential by providing life enrichment and educational opportunities that help break the cycles of abuse and neglect in our community.
