-- Strong SUV Sales Contribute to Year Over Year Growth --
TORONTO, June 1, 2012 /CNW/ - Mazda Canada announced sales for May 2012 today, showing an increase of 7% over May 2011. A total of 7,067 vehicles were sold, bring the year-to-date total to 30,357, which represents a 9% growth over the previous year.
The Mazda3 compact sedan and hatchback led the way in May, with a total of 4,240 sales. Consumers love the fun-to-drive characteristics of the Mazda3, and the fuel-saving capability of the new SKYACTIV Technology available in the Mazda3 GS-SKY is a key factor for many consumers' purchase decisions.
"Smart consumers don't want to give up anything in their vehicles, and the Mazda3 with SKYACTIV Technology offers more for less," says David Klan, Senior Director, Sales, Marketing and Regional Operations at Mazda Canada. "SKYACTIV Technology in the Mazda3 gives you more power with reduced emissions and significantly better fuel economy, all while retaining that 'Zoom-Zoom' feeling that consumers have grown to love."
Mazda's CX line of SUVs continued to perform well in May, led by the all-new 2013 Mazda CX-5 compact crossover. With sales of 1,308 units, the CX-5 sales momentum shows no signs of letting up. Combined with sales of the sporty CX-7 and 7-passenger CX-9, SUV sales were up by an impressive 121% over May 2011.
