Salvation Army Partners with The Brick for community donation drive
TORONTO, Aug. 27, 2012 /CNW/ - One of Canada's leading retailer of home furnishings is stepping up to help The Salvation Army obtain desperately needed donations of clothing and household items to help families in need this Back to School season.
The Brick and The Salvation Army will jointly host a donation drive at four Toronto-area Brick locations during a VIP Tent Sale from Thursday, August 30th to Saturday, September 1st, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
"The Brick is very pleased to be able to assist the Salvation Army in its clothing drive, not only by giving our customers an opportunity to drop-off their gently-used clothing at some of our conveniently located stores but also by using some of our marketing ability to help get the message out to the communities," said Khalid Khan, The Brick's Senior Director of Stores for Ontario & Central Canada.
"It's just another way for us to participate and give back in our communities in a socially responsible manner. We're anticipating a very positive response from our customers and look forward to being able to continue to work with The Salvation Army in the future."
Starting on Thursday, August 30th the following four Brick locations will have a brand new Salvation Army donation bin set-up in-store where customers can drop-off clothing, shoes, toys, books and other household items:
19 WILLIAM KITCHEN ROAD, Scarborough: 416-751-3383
20 ASHTONBEE ROAD, Scarborough: 416-701-0800
45 RED MAPLE ROAD, Richmond Hill: 905-731-2221
137 CHRISLEA ROAD, Vaughan: 905-850-5300
Customers that drop-off a donation at any of these Brick locations will receive a $5 OFF coupon to be used at any participating Salvation Army Thrift Store across Central Ontario.
"To have the support and commitment of a leading retailer like the Brick is invaluable to our mission to be a transforming influence in the communities we serve and to meet the needs of those less fortunate," said Joe Ciolfi, Product Sourcing Manager, The Salvation Army, NRO.
"We're very grateful for their involvement and we're hoping for a wonderful turn-out and for generous donations of gently-used items from the Brick's customers."
Ciolfi also notes that the event will give Brick customers a first-hand look at the new Salvation Army bins that will be rolled out in communities across the GTA later this year.
"These new bins have a strong visual appeal and will beautify the neighborhoods in which they are placed," said Ciolfi.
"We hope this will make it easier for the donating public to identify a bin operated by The Salvation Army and have the confidence in knowing 100 per cent of the proceeds generated by their donation benefit their community."
