RIVIÈRE-DES-PRAIRIES–POINTE-AUX-TREMBLES, QC, May 29, 2018 /CNW/ - The Salvation Army Thrift Store moves into Eastern Montreal with new location in Pointe-aux-Trembles (PAT) to serve the community and neighbours in need.
Opening on Wednesday, May 30th at 9 a.m. on 1482 Saint Jean Baptiste Boulevard, the PAT Thrift Store is the second largest among 6 locations in the greater Montreal area. "This expansion into Eastern Montreal is a cause for celebration," says Michele Walker, Director of Retail Operations for the Salvation Army Thrift Store. "We have been looking for a location in this community and are overjoyed to be opening our doors to offer real savings to individuals and families in and around PAT."
The new Thrift Store offers savings in pre-loved items such as clothing, housewares, furniture, electronics and more. The Thrift Store is also equipped with a Donor Welcome Centre opened daily, for the community to donate items in gently used condition they may no longer need.
"By shopping and donating to us, the community is supporting us in making a difference to people in Pointe-aux-Trembles through vital Salvation Army programs and services," Walker added. In FY 2017-2018 through the Salvation Army's voucher program almost 1900 vouchers were redeemed for people to shop free-of-cost at their 5 Thrift Stores.
"Our PAT location will also be a source for those in need to shop for much needed items that they might not be able to afford otherwise," Walker said. "This is just the tip of services offered by the Salvation Army in Montreal."
In FY 2017-2018 in Montreal The Salvation Army assisted thousands of adults and families in need, serving close to 155,000 meals at shelters and in feeding programs. 635 interventions were made through immigrant and refugee services, over 2100 shelter and addiction beds provided, 403 children sent to camp Lac L'achigan and 2100 people were assisted when disaster struck.
"We invite everyone to join us to celebrate this opening with refreshments and giveaways, but also to celebrate us coming into PAT to make a difference," said Mark Pantrey, Salvation Army Thrift Store Retail District Manager for Quebec. Store hours are Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. The Donor Welcome Centre is open Monday through Saturday 9 a.m. - 9 p.m., and Sundays 10:00 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.
