Samsung Canada announces its family of new Windows 8-ready products

ATIV Smart PCs and ATIV S smartphone offer unlimited creation and maximum ease of use

MISSISSAUGA, ON, Oct. 26, 2012 /CNW/ - Samsung Electronics Canada, a global leader in digital media and digital convergence technologies, today announced its new lineup of Windows 8 products, including the ATIV family of laptops, tablets and mobile phones. The suite includes the Samsung ATIV Smart PC, ATIV Smart PC Pro and ATIV S smartphone, as well as the Series 5 ULTRA Touch and the All-In-One PC Series 7.

Each product in the family is designed for Windows 8 with Samsung's advanced engineering and employs touch technology for effortless, intuitive use. With powerful performance packed in a stylish design and form factors that switch easily from laptop to tablet usage, Samsung's latest product offerings maximize both productivity and mobility.

Samsung ATIV Smart PC & Samsung ATIV Smart PC Pro

Combining revolutionary design, the power of a laptop PC and the convenience of a tablet PC, the 11.6-inch Samsung ATIV Smart PC and ATIV Smart PC Pro are Samsung's next set of smart devices. These provide computing power with Windows 8 functionality as well as full Windows 7 compatibility. Each device features a detachable keyboard-docking system that allows users to easily switch between a traditional 'clamshell' laptop design and a tablet PC form factor. These devices allow for great mobility with maximum productivity.

An advanced 10-finger multi-touch screen provides a technological leap in interactivity, surpassing the traditional two-finger touch features. Its enhanced sensitivity allows users to pinch-to-zoom, rotate images and scroll through pages with ease to enjoy the full capabilities of the latest entertainment applications. The ATIV Smart PC and ATIV Smart PC Pro are also equipped with the renowned S Pen, delivering real writing and drawing experiences for maximum productivity, both on the desk and on-the-go.

Beautifully stylish and ultra-portable, the ATIV Smart PC and ATIV Smart PC Pro are only 9.9mm and 11.9mm thick, respectively; and there are no compromises on performance. The ATIV Smart PC Pro's powerful Intel® Core™ i5 processor can handle particularly demanding professional use and multimedia consumption; while the ATIV Smart PC's Intel® Atom™ Z2760 processor is a solid match for everyday productivity tasks.

Available at select Canadian retailers in late October, the Samsung ATIV Smart PC retails from $699 CDN, and the Samsung ATIV Smart PC Pro from $1,149 CDN. To help Canadians stay connected on the go, Samsung is also launching a LTE version of the Smart PC, available exclusively through Rogers in November.  Pricing will be dependent on selected service plans.

Samsung ATIV S Smartphone

Samsung ATIV S is a new smartphone for both work and entertainment, offering a premium Windows 8 experience in a phone. ATIV S brings a stunning hairline design and high performance with a range of content-sharing and productivity options. Its impressive 1.5GHz dual-core processor and LTE connectivity enable great browsing performance and high responsiveness even for the most demanding gaming or work applications. Users can enjoy the brand new Windows Phone 8 experience on the ATIV S's stunning 4.8" HD Super AMOLED™ display. The ATIV S smartphone will be available at Bell, Rogers, Telus and Sasktel in November.

Samsung Series 5 ULTRA Touch

This Ultrabook is packed with a 13.3-inch HD SuperBright 10-finger multi-touchscreen and powerful 3^rd generation Intel® Core™i5 processor.  The Series 5 ULTRA Touch exploits the touch-centric Windows 8 interface for effortless intuitive use. The 10-finger multi-touchscreen is a technological leap in interactivity, surpassing traditional two-finger multi-touch by providing full touch control using all ten fingers on a clamshell laptop PC.

Lack of storage or connection can really hamper work efficiency and productivity. The Samsung Series 5 ULTRA Touch offers storage options of up to 500GB (providing over two times more content capacity of other Ultrabook models) or a 128GBB Solid State Drive (SSD) for blazing fast performance. It also includes a full-size HDMI port, one USB 3.0, two USB 2.0, 3-in-1 multi SD card slot, Ethernet and 1.3M webcam. Just 16.9~19.9mm thin and from 1.64kg light, the Series 5 ULTRA Touch is amazingly portable given its touch capabilities and full laptop PC functionality.

Available at select Canadian retailers now, the Samsung Series 5 ULTRA Touch is priced from $999 CDN.

Samsung All-In-One PC Series 7

Building on the premium characteristics of the Samsung Series 9 laptop, the new All-In-One (AIO) PC inherits Samsung's advanced engineering craftsmanship with highly finessed and stylish design.

Beyond the 10-finger multi-touch screen, the new AIO PCs have five hand gesture recognition features that conveniently let users control the device with just a flick of the wrist from up to a meter away, perfect for enjoying home entertainment for example. Additionally, exclusively pre-installed on Samsung Windows 8 PCs, users are introduced to Jamie Oliver's award winning application Jamie Oliver's Recipes.  Enjoy delicious recipes from around the world, developed specifically for the application and displayed in an easy to follow step-by-step format, each with beautiful high-definition photographs.

The Samsung All-In-One PC Series 7 is available at select Canadian retailers in mid-November, with an MSRP beginning at $1,299 CDN.
