Samsung consumers to congregate in the newsroom
New microsite to serve as one-stop shop for all things Samsung
MISSISSAUGA, ON, June 14 /CNW/ - There might be many places to talk about Samsung online, but now there's the place to be.
The electronics company launched today the Samsung Newsroom at www.samsung.com/news to provide a central point for the brand's consumers to meet, greet and learn all the things about Samsung they didn't know they didn't know.
"There are definitely a large number of consumers out there talking about Samsung products or looking for information and we wanted to give them a place to go online that was beyond the product information of the website — a place where they could post comments and link to social media sites like Facebook, Flickr, YouTube and Twitter," said Rosalyn Morris, Interactive Marketing Manager, Samsung Electronics Canada.
The Newsroom will offer users an opportunity to see product demos through YouTube videos, read the latest Samsung news and announcements, read case studies about businesses that benefited from Samsung products, share their thoughts and ask questions. The site's social media component allows users to link directly to their social media pages, giving the website's content much more exposure.
The new initiative is a component of Samsung's growing focus on social media and leveraging the enthusiasm and inquisitiveness of those who buy its products to spread the word. Yet the site goes beyond the product, allowing consumers to connect with the brand on a deeper level.
"Most people know our TVs, video cameras, mobile devices, appliances and office products, but many of them don't realize that there's much more to the brand than electronics," said Morris. "We want them to know about the work we do in the community and our commitment to sustainability; we want them to gain a better understanding of the research we conduct and how it benefits the industry. There's so much they're unaware of."
Morris added the Samsung Newsroom will also help bring the discussion home. Rather than having Samsung users post comments on various tech blogs, they can direct their thoughts and questions directly at the company itself, developing a much more direct connection between the brand and consumers.
"It's not just about exposing them to the corporation," said Morris. "It's about letting them contribute to our culture."
