Samsung Home Appliance cleans up at one of the muddiest events in the world
Newest laundry pair showcases innovative PowerFoam™ technology at Tough Mudder event
TORONTO, July 24, 2012 /CNW/ - Samsung Electronics Canada today announced its sponsorship of the first-ever, Toronto Tough Mudder event which will be held on August 18th and 19th at Mount St. Louis Moonstone Ski Resort near Barrie, Ontario. Showcasing Samsung's innovative PowerFoam™ laundry technology, participants completing the grueling 16 kilometer event will be invited to clean off at the Samsung PowerFoam™ Challenge post-event, in a life-sized activation designed to demonstrate how PowerFoam™ is a different way to clean whatever dirt life throws at you.
"At Samsung Canada we are passionate about conquering new challenges," said Warner Doell, Vice President of Home Appliance Sales and Marketing, Samsung Canada. "We took on the challenge of re-inventing laundry PowerFoam™, and are thrilled to now take on 'all things clean' at Tough Mudder, one of the muddiest and most challenging events in the world."
"Samsung's PowerFoam™ technology is going to take post-event mud clean-up to a whole new level," said Dan Weinberg, director of Strategic Partnerships at Tough Mudder. "After our participants conquer Tough Mudder, they will now be able to conquer all the mud that comes with it, thanks to Samsung Canada."
The Samsung PowerFoam™ Challenge highlights both Samsung's innovative PowerFoam™ technology as well as the Canadian launch of the Samsung WiFi Laundry Pair with PowerFoam™. PowerFoam™ is a different kind of technology that generates foam by dissolving detergent with air and water in the beginning of the washing cycle. Foam allows detergent to penetrate more quickly, evenly and thoroughly than normal detergents do for better washing performance and superior fabric care.
Samsung's Smart Control system allows consumers to save time by keeping them connected to the washer cycle via a smart phone application. Consumers can monitor cycle selections, remaining time and finishing alerts, as well as remotely start or pause the washer from anywhere in the house or on the go - a huge benefit for busy moms.
In addition to the PowerFoam™ Challenge, Samsung is recognizing all the Tough Mothers out there who often end up spending many hours a week doing all the dirty work in the laundry room. Samantha Boughen, a 31-year-old mother of two from Clinton, Ontario, is one of the toughest out there. Samsung has selected her to lead its 11-person Samsung Tough Mother team. She is a recent cancer and stroke survivor with an amazing story that inspires all. "Training for Tough Mudder is tough, but by far my toughest role is being a mom," said Sam. "I squeeze in training sessions between work, being a mom and tons of chores, including up to 15 loads of laundry a week! I am thrilled to know I'll be taking back some time and staying on top of my laundry with the new Samsung WiFi Laundry Pair with PowerFoam™."
The Samsung WiFi Laundry Pair with PowerFoam™ is available now for $3,599.00 at select retailers such as Future Shop. Other features of the Samsung WiFi Laundry Pair with PowerFoam™ include:
- Vibration Reduction Technology (VRT): Provides a smooth and quiet operation at spin speeds up to 1300 rpm. VRT significantly reduces vibration and noise, and improves handling of unbalanced loads, including small loads for a quiet, pleasant laundry experience.
- Steam Wash: Helps loosen tough soils on clothes by penetrating deep into the fabric. This means dirt comes out quickly and thoroughly saving time and energy.
- Diamond Drum™: Unique diamond-shaped depressions create the ideal washing environment for gentle, effective washing. This means clothes (even delicates) are safe from snags.
Self-described as "probably the toughest event on the planet," Tough Mudder features a 16 kilometer obstacle course designed by British Special Forces to test all around strength, stamina, mental grit and camaraderie. To highlight all of the muddy excitement, Samsung representatives will be mountain-side to help capture and share all the fun via photos taken by the Samsung NX1000 and posted to the Samsung Canada Facebook page (www.facebook.com/SamsungCanada) where participants can access photos and enter for a chance to win a laundry pair or camera.
