Accompanying glasses and Blu-ray player provide complete experience
MISSISSAUGA, ON, March 24 /CNW/ - Television will never be the same! Samsung Electronics Canada has brought the thrill and excitement of 3D technology - once relegated to the silver screen - to the living rooms of Canadians across the country.
Beginning March 26, 2010, Samsung will offer consumers the opportunity to purchase the first-ever series of 3D televisions in five different models that are packed with leading technological features for the optimal home entertainment experience. 3D technology will be available in the LED 9000, 8000, and 7000 series models, as well as the 750 series LCD televisions, plasma 7000 and 8000 series televisions and the BD-C6900 3D Blu-ray player. All formats are compatible with multiple 3D standards, including half and full HD resolution formats.
"We are proud to be first to market with these incredible, dynamic television models that will change forever the way Canadians watch television," said James Murphy, vice president, Retail Sales and Marketing, Samsung Electronics Canada. "We have incorporated the 3D technology into multiple devices and ensured compatibility between them so that users get the most advanced and real viewing experience possible."
All five television models will be equipped with Samsung's custom-designed 3D chip from its semiconductor division, ensuring the best 3D image quality. That superiority of Samsung's 3D technology will be highlighted by the 9000 series with its slim, LED-backlit TV and premium touch-screen remote control equipped with functionality to transfer video from the television to the remote's three-inch screen for viewing two programs simultaneously. In addition, users can access the Internet@TV feature in the 9000 and 7000 models to download countless Samsung apps that work for both wireless communication devices and televisions, including videos, games, social networking sites and sports and information. It's the latest demonstration of Samsung's commitment to content without borders.
"In developing and incorporating the 3D technology into our televisions, we wanted to ensure that all the unique features of our recent models - which consumers have come to associate with Samsung's superior innovation - were readily available and that the 3D technology worked compatibly with all those great features," said Murphy.
The 240Hz Auto Motion technology allows viewers to experience the fastest motions on the screen in 240 frames per second for lifelike clarity. In addition, the 3D models boast inconceivably thin frames with the 9000 Series at only 0.3" depth and the 7000 Series at 1.1" depth. All models are available in screen sizes ranging from 40" to 55".
Like their non-3D predecessors, the 3D LED TVs offer unparalleled energy efficiency and eco-responsibility. They are free of mercury and use a toxic-free LED lamp instead of the CCFL bulb.
To entice Canadians to bring the 3D experience into their homes, Samsung is offering early buyers a special promotion. Until June 3, 2010, consumers who purchase one of the select models of Samsung's 3D LED lineup and its BD-C6900 3D Blu-ray disc player will receive a 3D starter kit (valued at $449.99) that includes two pairs of battery-operated 3D glasses and a copy of the exclusive DreamWorks Animation Monsters vs. Aliens(R) Blu-ray 3D(TM) disc.
Samsung 3D LED televisions will be sold at select Canadian retailers and range in price from $2,699 to $7,199.
