Sandvine and I-New bring service plan innovation to a leading MVNO brand in Latin America
Global MVNO market prime target for service innovation
WATERLOO, ON, Nov. 3, 2014 /CNW/ - Sandvine, (TSX:SVC) a leading provider of intelligent broadband network solutions for fixed and mobile operators, today announced that Sandvine is working with I-New, its MVNE (Mobile Virtual Network Enabler) partner, to enable service innovation for a leading MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) brand in Latin America.
"I-New was recently named 'Best Solution Provider' at the MVNO Industry Awards in Berlin and has established strength in key regions for Sandvine, such as Latin America and parts of Europe. They represent a natural channel for Sandvine to reach the growing MVNO market globally," said Tom Donnelly, Chief Operating Officer, Sales and Global Services. "To compete with traditional mobile network operators, MVNOs need to have access to best-in-class solutions delivered affordably, with quick time-to-market. The integrated Sandvine/I-New solution can help deliver those benefits today."
Sandvine and I-New's MVNO customer in Latin America offers a traditional pre-paid quota plan that affords subscribers 1GB of data to access any application of their choosing for 30 days. Using Sandvine's and I-New's joint solution, the MVNO also offers significantly more choice to end users. For example, it offers an unlimited Facebook, Twitter, and WhatsApp plan for 30 days for a fee that is half the price of its full access package. Subscribers don't have to worry about running out of quota, or an unexpected overage bill. The MVNO offers another plan that gives users 1GB of data to watch videos or use a navigation application, while excluding (or "zero-rating") all of their Facebook, Twitter, and WhatsApp usage from the quota.
"The MVNO market is all about service differentiation – being able to quickly create compelling new service offerings that match the MVNO's target demographic. Sandvine's unique ability to enable a network for rapid innovation and delivery of service plans is a great fit with I-New's MVNO-in-a-Box capabilities," said Peter Nussbaumer, CEO. "Sandvine's Virtual Series, the SDN-and NFV-ready versions of its solutions, are also compelling to the MVNO market, as they offer all the capabilities with even more deployment flexibility. Together I-New and Sandvine can help MVNOs quickly gain a competitive edge in crowded marketplaces."
The joint solution combines Sandvine's Usage Management and I-New's MVNO-in-a Box products. Usage Management helps communications service providers achieve competitive differentiation by rapidly introducing a unique range of high-value subscriber services, including:
- Application-based service tiers and bolt-ons that appeal to specific subscriber tastes
- Roaming packages, real-time notification and bill-shock prevention
- Shared data plans, including family plans and multi-device data bundles
- Sponsored connectivity and third-party bundles, including zero-rating of partner services
- Universal service plans that bridge access technologies
I-New's MVNO–in-a-Box is an innovative product that contains everything that a company needs to start its own MVNO, including customer relationship management, provisioning, mobile marketing and a multitude of other capabilities. The solution is extremely flexible, can require less than three months for time-to-market, can scale from small operators to those with millions of subscribers, is multi-tenant, and supports a multitude of market segments.

An MVNO is a wireless communications service provider that does not own the wireless network infrastructure over which it provides services to its customers. An MVNO may use its own customer service, billing support systems, marketing and sales personnel or it may employ the services of an MVNE, like I-New.
