Sandvine awarded over $7 million in expansion orders by tier-1 MSO
Cable operator purchases Network Analytics to bring intelligence into the network
WATERLOO, ON, April 5, 2012 /CNW/ - Sandvine, (TSX:SVC; AIM:SAND) a leading provider of intelligent broadband network solutions for fixed and mobile operators, today announced that it has received over $7 million in Network Policy Control expansion orders from a tier-1 North American cable operator, a customer for over five years. These purchases include the Sandvine Policy Traffic Switch PTS and Network Analytics software suite to bring unprecedented insight into network usage and to optimize network management decision-making by making available detailed quality metrics on real-time entertainment. Most of the product revenue associated with these orders was recognized in Sandvine's first quarter of 2012.
Network Analytics can project long-term trends in consumer experience and resource utilization, allowing operators to better predict subscriber usage and thus where to best allocate resources and spending. While historical reporting is a standard feature of all Sandvine products, Network Analytics provides predictive business intelligence with metrics and dashboards for holistic network and service planning using a sophisticated data warehouse. By leveraging the PTS' granular traffic classification technology for detailed statistics, and its policy enforcement capabilities to act on data and put business rules into action, the Network Analytics dashboards round out the toolset necessary for operators to proactively manage their networks for increased efficiency.
"Sandvine is committed to bringing our customers the products and intelligence they need today, so they can make strategic decisions for tomorrow," said Tom Donnelly, COO, Sales and Global Services Sandvine. "The strength and longevity of the relationships with our cable customers is very much attributed to our ongoing innovation and flexibility. We provide our customers with forward-looking solutions that can be customized in size and scope for networks today, and scale easily as network demands grow."
Sandvine's Network Policy Control is an integrated hardware and software system that gives service providers access to data that can enable a myriad of solutions, such as fair-use management policies, tailored tiered service plans and network security safeguards.
