ClearSky Technologies and Nex-Tech Wireless deploy Network Policy Control
WATERLOO, ON, Feb. 27, 2012 /CNW/ - Sandvine, (TSX:SVC; AIM:SAND) a leading provider of intelligent broadband network solutions for fixed and mobile operators, today announced that it is bringing its Network Policy Control solutions to ClearSky Technologies, a provider of hosted and managed mobile data solutions for 80 wireless carriers serving eight million subscribers, and Nex-Tech Wireless, a North American wireless operator. These Sandvine customers were announced within the past six months.
Network Policy Control has become an integral part of wireless networks and operators worldwide are choosing Sandvine's solutions to meet the growing demands on resources. A core application of Network Policy Control is Usage Management, a product that tailors data plans that go beyond basic quota-based services to include device-based service packages such as unlimited email, web browsing, social networking, BlackBerry® service and unlimited smartphone tethering.
"Nex-Tech Wireless provides cutting-edge technology including data and mobile services," said Johnie Johnson, President and CEO for Nex-Tech Wireless. "Sandvine's Usage Management product will enable us to continue exceeding our customer's expectations by offering targeted data plans that meet the needs of our subscribers both locally and nationwide."
Sandvine's Network Policy Control solutions integrate with ease making them attractive to companies such as ClearSky, who host over 80 wireless carriers across North America. Solutions include Sandvine's Network Analytics, to help gain insight into network trends and actual subscriber usage. Within Network Analytics, the Real-Time Entertainment Dashboard quantifies subscriber Quality of Experience (QoE) using metrics such as start latency, buffer stalls and resolution downshifts due to lack of bandwidth.
"Adding Sandvine products and solutions to our technical repertoire broadens our managed services offering for carrier customers and will help ensure the best experience for subscribers across North America," said Bill Poellmitz, ClearSky President & CEO. "Sandvine's Real-Time Entertainment dashboard will enable us to deliver the tools and features our clients need for valuable insight into actual subscriber metrics."
"We are proud to work with leading-edge companies like ClearSky Technologies and Nex-Tech Wireless to implement Network Policy Control solutions," said Tom Donnelly, COO, Sales and Global Services, Sandvine. "We are the only Network Policy Control vendor with a usage management product that can easily integrate with backend operational systems, allowing our customers to quickly roll out rich data service plans and derive high value in record time."
