Sandvine to Empower Network Operators with Managed Business Services
Network Functions Virtualizations (NFV) Enables Analytics as a Service (AaaS)
WATERLOO, ON, Feb. 13, 2014 /CNW/ - Sandvine, (TSX:SVC) a leading provider of intelligent broadband network solutions for fixed and mobile operators, today announced a virtual offering that provides Communications Service Providers (CSPs) the ability to offer Sandvine's entire suite of network policy control solutions as managed services to their business customers.
The new offering is made possible by Sandvine's fully virtualized policy control platform - the first of its kind. Virtualization allows Sandvine's DPI-based policy enforcement (PCEF) and policy decision (PCRF) elements to be deployed as Virtual Network Functions (VNFs) on commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) hardware at a business's premise, or in a multi-tenant environment at the CSP's data center.
CSPs will be able to offer their business customers in various verticals, such as hospitality, healthcare, and education, a number of services, including:
Analytics as a Service (AaaS)
- Explore network usage by application, employee, business unit, or office location
- Measure VoIP Quality of Experience (QoE) between office locations
- Provide network service assurance for hosted servers
Traffic Management as a Service (TMaaS)
- Prioritize high-value traffic like collaboration and communications applications
- Restrict inappropriate content or bandwidth-intensive Internet sites
Network Security as a Service (SECaaS)
- Identify and remediate employees impacted by network threats such as botnets
- Prevent the loss of intellectual property and employee productivity caused by infected devices
"Sandvine is excited to provide our CSP customers with the ability to offer intelligence and other managed services to their business customers," said Tom Donnelly, COO, Sales and Global Services, Sandvine. "This offering will allow operators to differentiate themselves in the market, while at the same time generating new revenue streams through a wide array of value added services enabled by Sandvine."
